LRZTP to open a community class in advanced Tibetan language

On March 25, 2026 Lotsawa Rinchen Zangpo Translation Program will inaugurate a new community class for those who have a good grasp of Tibetan language and would like to deepen their knowledge of Tibetan still more. The class will be based on a Buddhist philosophical text and will be taught entirely in Tibetan. The teacher will be Drepung Loseling Geshe Lharampa Kalsang Gyaltsen.

This class is addressed both to foreigners whose level of Tibetan is sufficient to allow them to listen to teachings without translation as well as to Tibetan language native speakers who wish to learn more Buddhist philosophy directly in Tibetan. Meetings with the teacher will be organized every Saturday (beginning on March 28th) from 10.30 am to 12.45 pm (with a break at 11.30 to 11.45) in the LRZTP main classroom, that is Rato Labrang back building on the first floor, near the Men-Tsee-Khang institute in Dharamsala. Classes will be held until December.

LRZTP offers a variety of Tibetan language courses, including a 2-year Tibetan language program, online classes, short Tibetan courses and individual lessons. They are addressed to students of all levels of Tibetan: beginners, intermediate and advanced. The new community class is particularly addressed to advance learners and users of the language.

The teacher will be covering the text ནང་པའི་ཚན་རིག་དང་ལྟ་གྲུབ་ཀུན་བཏུས། (Science and Philosophy in the Indian Buddhist Classics), explaining the meaning of the book. The classes will focus on Tibetan terminology and explanation of concepts, thus allowing to broaden the Tibetan language skills. Anyone who has a good foundation of the language and wishes to participate is welcome to contact LRZTP directly and attend the opening ceremony on Wednesday, March 25 at 3.00 pm in the classroom of LRZTP.

If need be, in future it is possible that another class can be added to welcome more students.
