
Tenzin Tsepak did his primary education at TCV School in Dharamshala. He then studied at
the Institute of Buddhist Dialectics (IBD) from 1983-1996 where he received Pharchin and
Uma Ramjampa certificates of graduation, and also studied Abhidharma and Uttaratantra.
After this he began translating and interpreting by helping Westerners and Indians who
visited Tibetan teachers, lamas and geshes in the Dharamshala area. Then in 1996 – 2002 he
worked fulltime as a sponsorship secretary at IBD, during which he participated in several
workshops and other learning opportunities for the study of translation methodology. Since
2009 to present Tenzin Tsepak has held the position of Dharma interpreter/translator at the
Office of H. H. the Dalai Lama and has been one of the main interpreters for H.H. the Dalai
Lama since beginning this position. He also helps teach translation and interpretation at
LRZTP.
